Glorious Green

I am trying to write this post with a keyboard tha is not working too great...  Green is a colour I struggle with, sometimes I love it, sometimes I don't. Here are some recent green projects.

Tagua / Ivory Nut beads

I really love the colour of these beads. My sister gave them to me as a gift for Christmas & I've finally made something with them. I must admit, I hadn't even heard of Ivory Nut Beads until she found them for me!

Polymer Play - Orange

A course on Alternative Jewellery Making has left me a little hooked on polymer clay (think Fimo, Sculpey etc). This necklace was easy, and is quite striking (I think). Orange polymer rolled really think into a snake (think play-doh in Kinder) and coiled up to make these bright beads. The colour washed out a bit in this picture, the colour is more fluro in natural light. This necklace has been into town with me today teamed with a bright orange skirt, shoes and lipstick. Take that grey winter sky!

Author Victoria Finlay in her book "Colour - Travels through the paintbox" has this awesome quote to start off her chapter on the colour orange.  It says "Dance the Orange" - quote by Rainer Maria Rilke. Orange will always remind me of someone in my family! My favourite orange moment in my recent honeymooning travels - this awesome card from the Tate in London: 

Colour in Paris

Little did I know there was a book about this called 'Paris in Colour' by Nichole Robertson (don't you just hate it when you're too slow!). Here are some of my favourite snaps that I have taken in Paris.

Why colour? I love the feeling and mood of colour. I love the energy of orange and yellow, the warmth of red, the calm of blue, the earthiness of green, brown and ochre and the comfort of pink.

Whether it is painting, crafting, making jewellery, creating or cooking - colour's my passion. When it is dark and gloomy, you'll find me in the brightest things I can find. In the fast paced cities, you'll see office workers in black, and me in a bright red coat. Let's go on this journey together!
